Here’s another installment of the column I write about shelter animals who are looking to be adopted by a loving family. As I’ve said, it’s important to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves, and the animals who currently have no home want a family as much as any other animal or person. Providing a place for an abandoned or unhoused pet can have real benefits, not only for the dog, cat or other animal adopted, but also for the kind person or persons who take them into their home.

You can fill out an online application form for any one of these four-legged friends at Catskill Animal Rescue’s website, catskillanimalrescue.com, and find additional information about the adoption process there, too. Upon approval of your application, the shelter will contact you to set up an appointment.

Angus

Angus is a young boy, only about a year old, who was found as a stray but no one claimed him. He has been at the shelter for almost four months now, and he has definitely expressed his love for playing around. Angus is a little selective with other dogs, but if he finds one that he likes, he would love to play with them. He is a very sweet boy who needs a family to take care of him and love him. He is perfectly healthy and is microchipped, and is ready to go home once he finds the perfect family.

Ethel

Ethel is a six-year-old lab mix who didn’t arrive in the best condition, but with care provided at the shelter, she has recovered from her itchiness and regained her soft coat. She is older, making her calmer than other dogs. Ethel loves belly rubs and scratches, and she is affectionate even when you aren’t paying attention. Ethel used to live with other dogs, so she wouldn’t mind having a sibling. She is also fully ready to go home whenever her forever family finds her.

Frankie

Frankie is another young boy who was also found as a stray, but he is full of love. He is almost 80 pounds and very active. He absolutely loves people, but can be too much for some because of his size and energy. Frankie doesn’t get along with small animals, including small dogs and cats, and he would be best in a family with children over 12 because he jumps. He tends to be a bit of an escape artist, but he loves to go on walks. He has some quirks, but is just as deserving of a home as any other pet.
