Every year as the fall sports season at Livingston Manor Central School starts to wrap up, students and athletes begin to look forward to celebrating their accomplishments during Homecoming week. Leading up to the Homecoming bonfire and dance, the Student Council holds a spirit week which encourages students in grades 7 through 12 to participate in various competitions which can win points that are combined with future events, then tallied at the end of the school year to crown a winning class.

The 2023-24 Homecoming events occurred the week of Oct. 2 to Oct. 6. Beginning on Monday, the Spirit Week challenges included Adam Sandler Day, Decade Day, Anything But A Backpack Day, Country Club vs. Country Kid Day and finally, School Spirit Day. At the conclusion of the week, the overall standings for high school were as follows: in first place were the 10th grade, second place was given to 9th grade, third place was won by 11th grade, and in fourth place was the senior class. In the middle school competition, the 8th graders defeated the 7th graders.

Toward the end of Spirit Week, on Thursday, Oct. 5, the Student Council hosted a bonfire with assistance from the Livingston Manor Fire Department. Students in grades 7 to 12 from both Livingston Manor and Roscoe were invited to the bonfire, making attendance at the event very successful. The following evening, the Autumn Homecoming Dance was DJ’d by Frankie Kutner and was attended by approximately 90 students from Livingston Manor and Roscoe.

Thank you to the LMCS High School Student Council and their advisor, Julie Buck, for hosting all the amazing events.
