The Daniel Pierce Library, located in this hamlet, hosts a Giant Pumpkin Party for local residents every year. The event takes place rain or shine, and it usually has fun activities such as a hay ride, bouncy houses, a costume march, arts and crafts, and plenty of other things for people of all ages.

This year the staff at the DPL knew bad weather was approaching, but, as they say every year, it’s rain or shine. It was definitely a long and rainy day on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Giant Pumpkin Party. But everyone tried to have as much fun as possible and make the most out of it. There were fewer people than in previous years, but the crowd was enough to keep the spirit alive. Children of different ages still participated in the costume march, showing off their Halloween enthusiasm and their favorite characters. There were many pumpkins entered in the pumpkin decorating contest, and they were extremely creative. But everyone knows the best part of the Giant Pumpkin Party are the delicious donuts sold by the DPL staff.

Different community businesses and local organizations also attended, with booths set up selling custom products and raising money for their respective causes. There was something for everyone, from jewelry to delicious food and even homemade quilts. There was also live music provided by the band from Tri-Valley Central School and their performance lifted spirits and brought joy to a gray day.

Even if it’s rainy and cold outside, the Giant Pumpkin Party is a must. You’re almost guaranteed to have a good time, whether you’re just connecting with other local folks or making new friends, this small community never lets anything stop it from having an enjoyable day.
