Sunday, May 12, is Mother’s Day this year, and to celebrate moms everywhere, the staff of Manor Ink has decided to share their feelings about their own mothers.

Angie Hund, editor-in-chief: The best advice my mom ever gave me was, “If you don’t like the way something is done, do it yourself.” Though at face value it seems pessimistic, it taught me that at times, if you want something, doing it yourself will be more fulfilling. To obtain perfection, you must practice and reach a point where you’re satisfied; anything else won’t feel as prideful. This advice helped me overcome many of my fears, aided me in doing many “adult things” as I grew up, and motivated me to strive for perfection.

Zoey McGee, social media editor: My mom is a special person in my life because she just is. It’s hard to explain just one reason – she is just that awesome! She is a little too obsessed with coffee. I would complain about that, but she needs that caffeine rush to work as hard as she does. She is a fantastic nurse and works crazy long hours, which I don’t know how she does. And with that, she still manages to fit time in to do so much for others. Of course, then there is all she does for me. She listens to me ramble on about my random interests for hours. She puts up with my cranky moments and handles them without getting (too) frustrated. She is super fun, loving and supportive and would do anything for me. I couldn’t ask for a better mother!

Savannah Chaboty, reporter: My mom is the most meaningful person in my life because of the constant love she gives me. She never fails to show up for me; at sporting events or award ceremonies, her face is always there smiling in the crowd. My mom always makes me happy no matter the situation, and the air surrounding me always feels a little lighter with her there. I wouldn’t ask for any other person to be my mom, because of how special and amazing mine is.

Aidan Dusenbury-Dalto, reporter: My mom is a special person in my life because she is hardworking and never stops caring for the greater good of the family. She takes us on trips and adventures, and overall is a great person to have in my life. This is why my mom is a special person.

Jack Dusenbury-Dalto, reporter: My mom is a special person in my life because of all of the amazing things and sacrifices she has made for me. The best advice my mom ever gave me is not to unnecessarily worry about very specific things.

Rebecca Gashinsky, reporter: I love my mother because she always shows me unconditional love, despite how annoying I may be. She is a big inspiration to me. She also cooks me very tasty food.

Anahi Rodriguez, reporter: I love my mother because she is kind and loyal. My mom brings out the better in me and she’s very sweet. My mother is the best, and she takes good care of me. I love you, mom!

Adriana Serafino, reporter: My mom has done many great things for me, but one of the best was all her support. Throughout my life, she has always been really supportive of all my hobbies and interests. She would make sure that I had the necessary supplies so I could be as creative as possible.

Ethan Sprouse, reporter: My mom is incredible. She is great at keeping cool under pressure, and the nicest person I know. Not only that, she’s raising two kids on her own.

Rachel Zuckerman, reporter: My mom is a special person in my life because she has taught me many things about living and has inspired me in so many ways. My mom is one of my biggest inspirations, because she taught me to be an artist and express myself in different ways. Also, she is the person I love the most.
